Neither the path of his career nor the aesthetic of Richard Artschwager’s work falls neatly into expected patterns. His sculptures often employ “fake” materials as images, such as a wood-like Formica, and he uses the forms of everyday objects as the basis for his sculpture. His exhibition at Gagosian, London (February 26–April 12, 2003), is documented in this catalog. It features grey, white, and black pictorial boards with silver printing and reflective silver foil pastedowns and flyleafs.
