Marilyn Monroe Tote
Throughout his career, Andy Warhol repeatedly painted the iconic figure of Marilyn Monroe—two of which are found within the Broad collection, Two Marilyns (1962) and 40 Gold Marilyns (1980). The Andy Warhol Foundation Marilyn Monroe Tote Bag from Galison features Warhol’s iconic illustration of the actress silkscreened on one side, and his quote “In the future everybody will be famous for 15 minutes” on the other. The tote is crafted from heavy gauge cotton canvas with a sturdy shoulder strap. Presented with the tote is a hangtag featuring three different limited-edition pins: Yellow Banana (1966), Self Portrait (1966), and a black pin with the quote, “All is pretty.” An additional hangtag represents a facsimile of a Warhol art store receipt.
