Crying Girl Plate (Large)

$175.00 Sale Save

Exquisitely crafted, this porcelain plate is inspired by the 1963 artwork of Roy Lichtenstein and represents prescribed identities in the 1950s and 1960s eras, where women were fighting for equal rights. Female identity was idealized and glamorized and many women found themselves in relationships that were oppressive and limiting. Created in his iconic benday dot style, Lichtenstein explores aspects of this identity and the resulting feelings of isolation and disillusionment.
