World 2, 2022
World 2 is an edition based on a painting (2019) of the same name and depicts a bright blue sky as the backdrop for a weathered billboard and the pigeons perched up on the power lines behind. Sayre Gomez uses hyperreal painting techniques to address themes of representation and visuality. His paintings, sculptures, and videos adopt the visual vernacular of Los Angeles, drawing on the postmodern mashup of urban sprawl, car culture, and natural beauty inherent to contemporary L.A. Produced in an edition of 30, each work is individually signed and numbered by the artist. Online promotions are not applicable.
