Bring an Ed Ruscha work home with you. An important painting in the Broad’s collection,  Norm’s, La Cienega, On Fire (1964)—originally done in oil and pencil on canvas—features Norm’s Diner in Southern California. The famous roadside eatery carried the same significance to Ruscha as the famed Hollywood sign, the titles at the beginning of movies, or the bright gasoline signs of Standard Oil Company. This is the first of Ruscha's painting where a building has been set ablaze with the fire bringing a surreal edge to the classical, archetypal scene, burning with an almost comic enthusiasm.
