Jean-Michel Basquiat’s M (2026) is based on a panel painting created in the artist’s Venice, California studio in 1984. The work depicts the figure of the griot, the West African storyteller and keeper of communal memory, a recurring subject within Basquiat’s work.

Created in collaboration with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat and published by Flatiron Editions, the screenprint is produced on Saunders Waterford paper in an edition of 85. Each edition is stamped and signed by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux, the artist’s sisters and administrators of his Estate.
